A brief introduction to yourself?

I am Ahmad Safi from Iran. I am 52 and study at the Ph.D. level in the sport management major.

How did you develop your fondness for karate?

I worked in Iran, Pakistan., Jordan, Singapore, South Korea, and India as a karate coach and held many training seminars in more than 20 countries such as China, Taiwan, Canada, USA.

What drew you to Karate out of all other sports?

Discipline and respect.

At what age did you start learning karate?

At 10 years old.

What is your style and what rank do you currently hold in karate?

Shotokan is my main style but before it, I had experience in kanzenryu and Kyokushin . I have dan 8 from Iran karate federation, dan 8 from WMMF ( modern karate) and dan 7 from WSKF and dan 5 from Kyokushin karate, and dan 3 from kanzenryu

What was the highest prize you won?

Shotokan world competition medals and Some medals in Kata and Kumite.

What do you like more Kata or Kumite?

I like both Kata and Kumite.

Do you have a favorite Sensei?

Kasuya.

How did you get to this position and how was your journey being in this sport?

Because of many movements and physical activities, I traveled to many states and cities in Iran for competition and more than 50 countries for holding seminars and participation in competitions.

The first time I traveled to Japan in 1994 and then traveled to Italy in 1997

In most world and Asian competitions, I attended as a coach

and participated in three Asian games as a coach

Do you take karate as your profession or is it just a hobby?

100% as a profession.

Who’s been an inspiration for you throughout your sports journey?

I liked Bruce lee especially his movies and his actions so his actions could affect me so I had many of his posters in my room.

What challenges did you come across on getting where you are at today? You can share any injury story as well.

In martial arts and karate having an injury is inevitable and chance plays an important role so once I fainted and operated my knees three times and other injuries.

What motivates you the most about your profession as an athlete?

I could gain many improvements such as self-confidence, technical abilities in karate and it causes that my students be successful and improve in this field.

What are your strengths as both an athlete and as a person?

Martial art reveals from inside of everyone and the power is from inborn.

Do you have something you want everyone to learn?

Learning must not be stoped at all, and I can teach this point so well.
