Andrealex Thianrry is a jiu-jitsu athlete.
A brief introduction to you?
My name is Andrealex Thianrry best known “FOQUITO” (Foquito means light when my father was born after his nickname. I’m 21 years old and I’m a jiu-jitsu athlete. I’ve been training jiu-jitsu for 8 years at the Gracie Barra Asa Branca gym (Boa Vista – Roraima) – BR).
How did you develop a taste for the sport and at what age did you start learning karate?
I started training in 2013 at the age of 13 and got to know the sport through a friend of my father who is a jiu-jitsu teacher and in the early days, I fell in love with the art. A season later, he had to change gyms because of his studies and where he met the Gracie Barra academy that I remain there, training and competing in the competitions that lie ahead.
What is your style and what position are you currently in?
Nowadays I’m a jiu-jitsu competitor/athlete. I help my teacher in training and 1 year ago I made my debut in MMA where I got 2 wins in my first 2 fights.
Do you have a favourite Sensei?
Professor Janairo.
How did you reach this position and how was your trajectory in this sport?
It’s been a pretty arduous journey, but I believe that soon it will all be worth it.
Do you consider sport a profession or is it just a hobby?
Nowadays I consider jiu-jitsu as a profession. Because I’m living off the sport.
What challenges did you face to get where you are now?
You can also share any injury story. More the financial issue. Because it is very hard. You have to pay registration fees for the events I participate in, travel and more expenses with food and training equipment. You are always willing to do excellent training to get a good result at the events. I am grateful to God for everything. Just Gratitude. One day, one of the best athletes/fighters in this world will be series.
What motivates you most in your profession as an athlete?
Motivate, inspire the people around me and those around me.
Do you have something you want everyone to learn?
Participate in martial arts, as it works on unity, brotherhood, teamwork in addition to other factors such as self-control, self-confidence, etc.
Which tournament or match are you most proud of and why?
CIGB – 2017/2018 Gracie Barra Internal Championship where I was Bi-Champion in two consecutive years 2017/2018. I got an excellent performance.
