Andrey Success Story
Andrey a karate athlete.
A brief introduction to yourself?
My name is Andrey, and live in Kyiv (Ukraine) and I have been doing Kyokushinkai karate for 15 years.
At what age did you start learning karate, what drew you to Karate out of all other sports, and do you have a favorite Sensei?
My first sport was judo, I trained for 3 years with varying degrees of success. When I was 9, my family moved to Kyiv, where I began to practice Kyokushin kai karate with sensei Sergey Verbitsky. I still learn from him. He accompanied me on the way from the white belt to 1 dan in Kyokushin kai karate (IKO-1).
What do you like more Kata or Kumite?
I like Kumite more, because I see it as the essence of karate, while kata is one of the ways to learn karate.
What was the highest prize you won?
Among my awards are 2 bronze medals at the European Championships, 4 gold medals at the Ukrainian Championship, as well as participation in the 12th absolute world championship as part of the Ukrainian national team.
Do you take karate as your profession or is it just a hobby?
At the moment I am teaching young karatekas among whom there is my brother. I have about 50 students in two groups.
Do you have something you want everyone to learn?
And I confident see the system of training in karate as one of the most balanced for both the all-round development of children and the formation of a personality in adulthood.
