Anita Grundbacher an athlete.
A brief introduction to yourself?
My name is Anita Grundbacher. I`m 33 years old and I’m from Germany, Bavaria. My main job is teaching pupils from 10-17. I study politics, maths, economics, and sports.

How did you develop your fondness for karate?
I don`t do karate.. I do Taekwon-Do, Allkampf Jitsu and Kickboxing. My parents did TKD and Allkampf to. So i
‘m born in that sport.
What drew you to Karate out of all other sports?
Taekwon-Do is not only a sport it’s a life attitude.
At what age did you start learning karate?
I do that sports since I can think.
What is your style and what rank do you currently hold in karate?
I do ITF Taekwon-Do. I have 5. DAN in TKD, 2 DAN in Allkampf Jitsu and 1. DAN in Kickboxing.
What was the highest prize you won?
Twice 3rd Place at European Championship. 5th place at Worldchampionship 2019 all in TKD. 1st Places in National Championships.
What do you like more Kata or Kumite?
I prefer Kata (in TKD called forms or TUL) and I also love pre-arranged sparring.

Do you have a favorite Sensei?
I`m a fan of GM Kim Lan Ung.
How did you get to this position and how was your journey being in this sport?
I trained with my dad. It sometimes was hard. When I was a Teenager my trainer took me home. We changed the system 14 years ago. I needed years to learn, to prove the ITF system. But we went on and on and. Went to national and international courses and open competitions. Then I was asked to get into the national team. I`m a Trainer since I’m 17.
Do you take karate as your profession or is it just a hobby?
It’s only a hobby. When I’ve been on the national team it was more of a profession. But I’m glad to have it back for a hobby. It was wonderful but a hard time. In the ad, you can`t do that as a profession in Germany.
Who’s been an inspiration for you throughout your sports journey?
Master Adalbert Wagner my Trainer.
What challenges did you come across on getting where you are at today?
You can share any injury story as well.
My first European championship ends with a broken foot. A debris break with a shift. The doctors said I won`t be able to get part in the next championship a half year later. But I had a really good Therapist. She is called Vinja Bauer. She pushed me and made me took part in the next championship a half year later. I got a medal again.

What motivates you the most about your profession as an athlete?
I love the people. It’s like a second family. And the feeling when you stand there and get the medal, you can`t describe that.
What are your strengths as both an athlete and as a person?
As an athlete: I`m flexible and my body knows the techniques since I’m a child. As a person: I have passion. I love what I do. And I’m an open mind person who wants to learn and listen to people.
Do you have something you want everyone to learn?
Have an open mind. Think when you do something.
