Batıkan Sulanc an Ashihara and Kyokushin Karate athlete.
A brief introduction to yourself?
I’m Batıkan Sulanc, 22 years old.

How did you develop your fondness for karate?
I was 17 years old. I have been doing a lot of sports since I was a kid. Fighting sports were very interesting to me, my friend took my arm and brought me to the dojo where he worked before. I liked it very much and I started.
What drew you to Karate out of all other sports?
Respect and discipline.
At what age did you start learning karate?
17 years old.
What is your style and what rank do you currently hold in karate?
I’m practicing Ashihara and Kyokushin Karate and I am 1st dan black belt.
What was the highest prize you won?
I had 2nd place in the Ashihara Karate EuroAsian Championship 2019.
What do you like more Kata or Kumite?
Kumite. Kata is a very important part of this sport but I can do Kumite forever.

Do you have a favorite Sensei?
My favorite Sensei Shihan Sermet Ulufer, very knowledgeable and respected person
How did you get to this position and how was your journey being in this sport?
I was very ignorant and bad but I was determined and hardworking. I had many unsuccessful tournaments, I had too much injury. I was also preparing for the sports academy and I was training 9-10 times a week. I failed in sports academy but I never gave up and I continued to work hard, then I won the sports academy, I started getting success in tournaments and I had nice fights. where I am now my gym, sensei, and my friends I came with their support.
Do you take karate as your profession or is it just a hobby?
As profession.
Who’s been an inspiration for you throughout your sports journey?
I can say was 4 person. Israel Adesanya, Conor McGregor, Jorge Masvidal, and Rose Namajunas.
What challenges did you come across on getting where you are at today?

You can share any injury story as well.
I’ve had cracks, bruises many times but the worst I had too much edema on my shoulder.
What motivates you the most about your profession as an athlete?
It’s not the result of the fight for me how hard the fight was. All the hard fights motivate me. My motivation source damage and take damage. I like the competitive environment.
What are your strengths as both an athlete and as a person?
I can say never give up. I always work hard and always do my best.
Do you have something you want everyone to learn?
I want to know that it is important to be patient and work hard.
