Christine Misfit Ferea Success Story
Christine Misfit Ferea an athlete.
A short introduction to yourself?
I am Christine Misfit Ferea. I want to be remembered as the greatest female Bare Knuckle Boxer of all time.
How did you develop your fondness for your sport and at what age did you start learning Muaythai and boxing?
I love to compete and test myself with everything I do. Pushing my limits keeps me locked into life and on track and healthy. I love sports and taking my skills to the next level. Most of all, I want to be the best at whatever I do.
What is your style and what rank do you currently hold in?
I am a Bare Knuckle boxer. I am currently ranked as the #1 Women¹s 125lb Bare Knuckle Boxer in the World.
What do Christine Misfit Ferea like Kata or Kumite more?
Kumite. I love to fight.
Do you have a favorite Sensei?
My coach Gil Martinez is very influential to me and has played a big role in my success as a competitor!
How did you get into this position and how did your journey in
Does this sport go?
I threw myself into the gym/sport and wanted to compete very quickly. I had my first flight within a couple of months of training. It was the craziest feeling I¹ve ever felt. I was hooked!
Do you take sports as a profession or is it just a hobby?
I am a professional athlete and give 100% of my time to this as a profession!
What challenges have you faced in getting to where you are now? You can also share any injury story.
One challenge that I have faced in a variety of ways is that I just don’t always fit the mold. I’m, not a Barbie doll. It may seem crazy, but sex appeal is an important factor in the fight industry, especially for females. I refuse to even attempt to play into the sexy fighter role. It just seems ridiculous to me. I have no interest in it. I’m a fighter. I’m a warrior. I never signed up to be a model.
Another struggle for me is that that I am what some would consider a Tom Boy Lesbian female. I am who I am. I’m never going to pretend to be something that I’m not. I guess that’s why they call me Misfit. However, I have never allowed any of these challenges to force me to quit! Injuries have never really been a factor in my struggle, they happen of course but that comes with it, nothing excessive though! Struggles are part of life. Champions find a way to overcome.
What motivates Christine Misfit Ferea most about her profession as an athlete?
I don¹t like to quit things. I also don¹t like to know what could have, should have, or would have happened if I had stayed the course. No matter the outcome, I know that I have always given it my all. Will I regret it one day? Well, I’ll find out later. Stay tuned!
Do you have anything you want everyone to learn?
You can become anything you put your mind to. No matter what or where you
come from; despite any lack of opportunities/resources, there is always a way. Your easy way out is finding an excuse.
What tournament or match you have won are you most proud of and why?
I’m just proud of becoming a professional fighter in general! The titles have nothing to do with it. It is the journey that I¹m proud of. Especially the combat sports journey.
