A brief introduction to yourself?
I was born in Costa Rica, work half time as a bartender I have 26 years and I love the fight in the ring or tatami.
How did you develop your fondness for karate?
All started with my uncle´s they are martial artist they practice when was young and I saw them practice the most of the time was love at first look.

What drew Dave Umana to Karate out of all other sports?
The power of his punch and kicks. the strongest and discipline training.
At what age did you start learning karate?
I started training officially at 23 in a dojo but everything started with my uncles at 6 years old they teach me a lot.
What is your style and what rank do you currently hold in karate?
My style of karate is Kyokushin from the organization Matsushima, I’m currently already doing my examen for a 6 kyu.
What was the highest prize you won?
In karate was first place in a national tournament but maybe the most important of all my achievements were won in the costa Rica shidokan series that was a kickboxing tournament.
What do you like more Kata or Kumite?
Kumite I love fight whole the time that I can.
Do you have a favorite Sensei?
Yes actually are two sensei that I admire so much than any other my sensei Cesar Barrientos and ariel Valverde are like fathers to me.

How did you get to this position and how was your journey being in this sport?
Training more than any other. I never surrender so I keep my focus on my goals, my journey in this sport has been amazing I try to learn each day more is like giving the extra mile.
Do you take karate as your profession or is it just a hobby?
Karate for me is a lifestyle it is in my whole days.
Who’s been an inspiration for you throughout your sports journey?
Mirko Cro Cop.
What challenges did you come across on getting where you are at today?
You can share any injury story as well.
Well, all those people that say that I would never win o keep in the training I never had an injury I think cause I don’t care I mean if I feel pain after a fight but I training the next day so there’s no time for me to have injuries or feel pain.
What motivates you the most about your profession as an athlete?
Get stronger and faster each day.

What are your strengths as both an athlete and as a person?
As an athlete is that I no feel fear cause I enjoy fight but I don’t know why and as a person is that I always stand up never give up
Do you have something you want everyone to learn?
No matter who no matter what. you just keep going you have to be stronger every day if you have time to feel bad for yourself so you have time to be better.
