A short introduction to yourself?

I’m Diana Tovar, I’m 24 years old, I’m from Mexico, I practiced mixed martial arts since I was 6 years old, at 12 years old I became a black belt in mixed martial arts, then I practiced Taekwondo and I became a black belt in Taekwondo. I was at the national championship in Taekwondo Poomsae four times. Then I practiced wrestling for two years and now I’m a trainer of the Poomsae team of my University (University of Guadalajara).

How did you develop your fondness for your sport and at what age did you start learning Taekwondo?

My favorite movie was Mulan so I decided to practice MMA since I was 6 years old.

What is your style and what rank do you currently hold in?

3rd dan in Taekwondo and just a black belt in MMA.

What do you like Kata or Kumite more?       

I prefer Poomsae.

Do you have a favorite Sensei?

Sang Jong Moon, thanks to him, I was the national champion in Taekwondo.

How did you get into this position and how did your journey in this sport go?

Because I was training four hours per day, just Sundays were my days off.

Do you take sports as a profession or is it just a hobby?

Profession.

What challenges have you faced in getting to where you are now?

You can also share any injury story. Corruption and favoritism.

What motivates you most about your profession as an athlete?

That I can become the best version of myself.

Do you have anything you want everyone to learn?

Yes, that doesn’t give up on their dreams.

What tournament or match you have won are you most proud of and why?

National competition in Mexico, 2014 we became the first team and couple to won first place in the new modality Poomsae Freestyle.
