FERDINAND OMANYALA
Ferdinand Omurwa Omanyala is an athlete.
1) A short introduction to yourself?
-I am the current fastest man in Africa and 8th fastest man in the world ever with a pb of 9.77 seconds. I am.also a student at university of nairobi doing bsc in chemistry.
2) How did you develop your fondness for your sport and at what age did you start?
-I played rugby in my high school years when I was 18 and then switched to sprinting in 2016 when I was 20.
4) Are you a member of any sports team? if not have you ever been?
-Yes. Played for a rugby club called mean machine for the university and stingerz rugby club.
5) Describe your major highlights and achievements in sports in the past.
-My major highlight was when I ran 9.77 seconds last year in September in Nairobi.
6) Are there any short-term goals you’d like to accomplish in the next few months to a couple of years?
-My short term goal is to run as many sub 10s and also get medals in global championships
7) Do you take sports as a profession or is it just a hobby?
-Right now I am doing it as a profession.
8) What challenges have you faced in getting to where you are now? You can also share any injury story.
-Rejection because sprints are not well known in Kenya. I have had injuries in the past and also financial constraints because it’s an expensive sport.
9) What motivates you most about your profession as an athlete?
-I am motivated by the fact that I get better everyday.
10) Do you have anything you want everyone to learn?
-Never give up in life. Always keep the dreams you have alive. One day what you are really working hard for will come. One day the doors will open.
11) What tournament or match you have won are you most proud of and why
-I am proud of my times and records. Now chasing the titles.
