Joao Pedro
Joao Pedro is an athlete.
Joao Pedro started doing karate when he was 08 years old, in 2017.
The style is practised in Shotokan karate. He competes in both Kata and Kumite. However, he likes kata better and is currently a green belt, but he will change to purple next month.
He is ranked first in his state, Minas Gerais, in his category, both Kata and Kumite.
He competed for the first time in the Brazilian Championship in 2019 and took third place in Kumite. In 2020, due to the pandemic, he only participated in the online kata Championships, where he was Champion of several nationally. It was a good opportunity to train a lot.
He participated in the Jebs (Brazilian School Games) last month in the city of Rio de Janeiro, representing the state of Minas and won third place, among 22 athletes, in Kumite, in a category with weight above her own, as there was only space for her.
Next week, he will compete in the Brazilian Championship, and he is looking for the title of champion in both Kata and Kumite. Her senseis are Kenia Peixoto and Maria Eduarda Peixoto.
Train three times a week. Last year, when he had sponsorship, he was able to train more and do physical therapy for strengthening and prevention. But currently, without sponsorship, it is more difficult to keep all the training.
Sport is something that has to be taken seriously, and I see it as a profession. We live in a small town, but as far as possible we have access to good coaches.
The hardest part is the costs of this. For physical preparation, more specialized training and travel, for participation in championships.
João Pedro dreams of joining the Brazilian karate team and participating in major competitions! Dream of being a professional athlete.
The competition that participated, which is most proud of the result, was JEBS, which participated last month in Rio de Janeiro. Because he participated in a category above his, with bigger and heavier athletes (he was the smallest), because he only had a place in that category.
He, without fear, faced the boys and got third place in the competition, among 22 athletes, being called Daniel San of the karate kid, because he took many strong blows before the victory and had to receive medical attention during the fights.
