Jose Malespin is an athlete.
A short introduction to yourself?
My name is Jose Malespin. I’m 21 years old and I’m an MMA fighter out of Miami, Florida. My parents are Cuban and Nicaraguan.
How did you develop your fondness for your sport and at what age did you start?
I started training and my first day in the gym I loved it. I loved the learning and the respect aspects of the sport as well as the grind. It teaches you how to be humble yet strong in all aspects of life.
What is your style and what rank do you currently hold in (your sport)?
I consider myself a freestyle fighter because I’m good everywhere I’ll win by knockout, submission or I’ll grind out a decision either way I’m winning
Are you a member of any sports team? if not have you ever been?
Currently I’m apart if SanfordMMA and Dk fitness
Describe your major highlights and achievements in sports in the past.
Nothing to big yet but Saturday February 26th I’ll be getting my first title
Are there any short-term goals you’d like to accomplish in the next few months to a couple of years?
In the next few months, I’d like to take time to get ready to start my pro career and achieve the ultimate goal of becoming a ufc champion and staying a ufc champion.
Do you take sports as a profession or is it just a hobby?
MMA is my life I’m 100% invested in the sport and myself to achieve greatness
What challenges have you faced in getting to where you are now? You can also share any injury story.
I’ve faced many injuries, lost time with loved ones that have passed away, and people telling me to just give up because there is no money in MA, this sport is a hard one you have to deal with anything thrown your way and I feel like I’ve done a good job of moving past those adversities and becoming stronger mentally
What motivates you most about your profession as an athlete?
I want to be the first in my family to leave their mark on the world I want my name to be a household name by the time I’m done
What tournament or match you have won are you most proud of and why
My last fight I’m most proud of because I took it on 1 weeks’ notice coming off of a loss and one of the worst injuries I’ve had and I looked the best I ever looked
