A short introduction to yourself?

My name is Kaio Gouveia, I am an athlete in the Brazilian karate team for 3 years, I have conquered several competitions in my career, I am only 22 years old and I am looking for the Olympic dream.

How did you develop your fondness for your sport and at what age did you start learning karate?

I met through my grandmother who enrolled me in classes, I started at 8 years old.

What is your style and what rank do you currently hold in (your sport)?

Shotokan Style, today I’m a 2nd Dan Black Belt.

What do you like Kata or Kumite more?

Kata

Do you have a favourite Sensei?

Yes, my teacher, and Douglas Brose.

How did you get into this position and how did your journey in this sport go?

I struggled for 10 years to conquer my place in the sport, today I am grateful for all this effort and to all the people who helped me.

Do you take sports as a profession or is it just a hobby?

A profession, as I now have sponsors.

What challenges have you faced in getting to where you are now? You can also share any injury story.

The main thing has always been the lack of financial resources in the past.

What motivates you most about your profession as an athlete?

My family, my goals to achieve.

Do you have anything you want everyone to learn?

Yes, the good that sport provides to human beings.

What tournament or match you have won are you most proud of and why?

World Championship, where I won the bronze medal in the Senior category.
