Maria Eduard
Maria Eduarda is an athlete.
A short introduction to yourself?
My name is Maria Eduarda, I’m 17 years old, I’m an Alliance Garopaba athlete. I consider myself a focused, determined and competitive girl.
How did you develop your fondness for your sport and at what age did you start?
I started with the boxing modality where my teacher also taught. I took 4 weeks of classes and jiu jitsu “called me”. The training developed and it awakened in me the desire to compete, that I could be champion, I could give my life to reach a podium, fight hard and stand out in the sport. We are taking small steps to get where we want to be
What is your style and what rank do you currently hold in (your sport)?
I feel very comfortable on guard and much more comfortable on passing guard!
Are you a member of any sports team? if not have you ever been?
Yes! I am part of the Alliance Garopaba team, directed by sensei Rodrigo Klippel.
Describe your major highlights and achievements in sports in the past.
Champion open balneário camboriú cbjj
Champion Ajp tour Florianópolis
South Brazilian champion cbjj
Vice-champion of the Desterro Cup
Are there any short-term goals you’d like to accomplish in the next few months to a couple of years?
Yes, Me and my team are working hard to bring the CBJJ 2022 Brazilian championship title.
Do you take sports as a profession or is it just a hobby?
As a profession, as a sport and way of life.
What challenges have you faced in getting to where you are now? You can also share any injury story.
The mat is a place where I find myself and find my peace. It has space for all those who are willing to learn and evolve.
What motivates you most about your profession as an athlete?
To see that I can learn, evolve and improve as a person every day, that I have no limits to my dreams within my sport.
Do you have anything you want everyone to learn?
It’s important to have goals, because when you don’t know where you want to go, anywhere will do. Setting goals brings clarity to the path. It helps you set your goals and work even harder to achieve them.
