Ramon Souza Success Story
Ramon Souza is a Jiu-Jitsu athlete.
What sports do you practise?
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
How did you develop your fondness for your sport and at what age did you start learning?
I met a friend at the age of 14. Since then I haven’t stopped training, it’s an inexplicable feeling.
What is your style and what rank do you currently hold in (your sport)?
I’m an aggressive guard. I’m currently on the black belt.
Do you have a favourite Sensei?
Yes, no doubt! Cristiano Alves and Darwin Falcão are a reference for me.
How did you get into this position and how did your journey in this sport go?
Since I started, I’ve always trained a lot, dedicating myself to giving up a lot, I’m still in the process, I believe that closer to realizing my dreams in sport.
Do you take sports as a profession or is it just a hobby?
Profession since the day I started! My dream is to live on it.
What challenges have you faced in getting to where you are now? You can also share any injury story.
My biggest challenge has always been the lack of money, I believe that many athletes will also go through it. But today my biggest challenge is not much time for rest, because I wake up at 3:30 a.m. every day to work. Thank God I’ve never had a very serious injury.
What motivates you most about your profession as an athlete?
What motivates me today is to want to give a better life to my parents and help some friends who want to live off the sport but have some difficulties.
Do you have anything you want everyone to learn?
Yes! To be resilient and believe in the process. This can change everything!
What tournament or match you have won are you most proud of and why?
I don’t have a favourite, everyone is part of my story so far, whenever I come in to fight I leave my best and try to learn to the fullest.
