Success Story of Alexander Gruden
A short introduction to yourself?
I, Gruden Aleksandr, was born on January 8th, 1981 in Moscow, in the family of honored scientists in the field of biomedical and engineering sciences. At the moment, a student of institution of higher education in the field of physical culture and sports – FSBEI HPO “Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth and Tourism (SCOLIPE)” in the direction of education “Physical culture”, theory and methodology of “Taekwondo ITF” and in the direction of education “Nursing”.
How did you develop your fondness for your sport and at what age did you start learning?
As a schoolboy, I was often beaten and had to fight back. A little later, when I was able to defeat the offenders, I was inspired by films with Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Bruce Lee. I wanted to learn how to fight like them.
What is your style and what rank do you currently hold?
Taekwon-Do ITF, 4th dan, international instructor
Are you a member of any sports team? if not have you ever been?
National Team Russia
Do you have a favourite sports teacher?
Master Ri Yong Il, 8th dan
Describe your major highlights and achievements in sports in the past.
Champion Moscow, Champion Russia, World Champion
Do you take sports as a profession or is it just a hobby?
It was my hobby, now it is my profession.
What challenges have you faced in getting to where you are now? You can also share any injury story.
I started training at the age of 16 and my experience is now over 20 years. I went through the stages of lack of time, combining sports and work, study and family. There were fears, disappointments in my power. At one point, I changed my training location and met a Korean teacher with whom I started all over again, having a 3rd dan degree. He was able to open up to me, show me the martial art and give me the incentive to become a teacher for others, constantly improving my body and spirit.
What motivates you most about your profession?
Every day I learn something new in my profession. I embody knowledge in training, find new abilities in myself and reveal them in my students. I am motivated by my physical and mental form, what I can pass on to the students.
Do you think everybody should practise sports or do you want everyone to learn?
Man is born to move. I support any form of physical activity in people, because through this people become healthier.
What tournament or match you have won are you most proud of and why?
My first championship, where I struggled with fear and stiffness in myself.
Are there any short-term goals you’d like to accomplish in the next few months to a couple of years?
Raising my first black belts among students. Teaching them culture and training. own success in sports.
