Iraqi professional muaythai (thai boxing) athlete
How did you develop your fondness for your sport and at what age did you start learning?
I like the combat sport and i wanted to learn how to defend myself and to be strong and tough , i get encouraged from my family and they supported me during all my journey
What is your style and what rank do you currently hold?
My style is orthodox style , i was the bronze medalist in the last world championship in Abu Dhabi 2022 , so now i am number 3 on the world in my weight division 81kg
Are you a member of any sports team? if not have you ever been?
Yes now i am a member of the iraqi national muaythai team
Do you have a favorite sports teacher?
I trained with many trainers and all of them were good.. I learned a lot of skills and experiences from them and I am still learning more And working on myself to be a better athlete and fighter.
Describe your major highlights and achievements in sports in the past.
Honestly i have many achievements at the global , asian , arab and my country iraq too , but about the best achievements was silver medal world championship 2019 in thailand , gold medal in the asian championship 2018 in macau , arab gold medal in lebanon 2017 , and 9 times national champion since 2014.
Do you take sports as a profession or is it just a hobby?
Sport is a profession to me
What challenges have you faced in getting to where you are now? You can also share any injury story.
I was facing a lot of difficulties during my sports career especially at the beginning of my sports career in terms of money. My money wasn’t enough but I continued to train every day and through thousands of hours of hard work, pain, fears of failure, confusion and injuries to be what I am today.
What motivates you most about your profession?
My dream is to be the world champion and to represent my country at its best
Do you think everybody should practise sports or do you want everyone to learn?
Of course everyone should practice sport for his health .. sport should be a life style to make your body and life clean and to kill your free time with something good
What tournament or match you have won are you most proud of and why?
I proud in all my achievements of course because i have put my country in good image front of all the countries but the best is the asian gold medal 2018 when I listened to my national anthem in front of the countries and the big flag of my country
