Veronika Success Story
Veronika a kid karate athlete.
A brief introduction to yourself?
I’m Veronika GASHNIKOVA. 12 years old. Live in Lobnya city, Russia.
How did you develop your fondness for karate?
WKF karate mostly depends on the tactic. And I love to solve riddles.
What drew Veronika to Karate out of all other sports?
I tried swimming but at age 6 years old. I saw a bright picture with a karate club promotion and decided to try.
At what age did you start learning karate?
Two weeks after my 6th birthday.
What is your style and what rank do you currently hold in karate?
WKF karate doesn’t require any style. But my coach studied Shotokan style and I have 2 kyu and brown belt and know necessary Katas.
What was the highest prize you won?
I became first on WKF kids Cup 2019 in Croatia. Of course in Kumite!
What do you like more Kata or Kumite?
I practice and play Kumite because it means something new every day and every competition.
Do you have a favorite Sensei?
Bruce Lee is the best of course!
How did you get to this position and how was your journey being in this sport?
My coach calls me Golden girl. Because I almost have no losses. So I try to hold this level. But I have to say everyone needs many and many practices to rich the success.
Do you take karate as your profession or is it just a hobby?
I’m 12 years old. So I have time to choose my profession later. But I hope I’ll give classes and seminars someday. I had such an experience already. I was invited to an online seminar with the Canadian karate club and took part in my coach’s seminars.
Who’s been an inspiration for you throughout your sports journey?
It’s Irina ZARETSKA. She is an amazing fighter who can execute punches and kick so and takedown techniques
What challenges did you come across on getting where you are at today? You can share any injury story as well.
I have to say that karate training is pretty hard but rather interesting.
Sometimes everyone has bruises and feels so much pain. I hadn’t serious injures will my karate practice. But I’ve got blue eyes on my last competition. The funniest thing that I don’t remember the way it happened because I didn’t miss any hit that time.
What motivates Veronika the most about your profession as an athlete?
My goal is to become an Olympic champion. I believe that karate surely is in Olympics! I know athletes who will take part in Olympics in Tokyo personally. I see how hard they train I know how strong they want to win.
It’s the best motivation for me.
What are Veronika strengths as both an athlete and as a person?
Looses are the worst thing for me! So every training I remember about my aim to win every next competition and train hard. The same is in the school. Sometimes it makes some difficulties in my ordinary life.
Do you have something you want everyone to learn?
I would like to wish all people to have any hobby or matter they are interested in and try to reach all the best results in them.
