Victor Jimenez Success Story
Victor Jimenez a karate athlete.
My name is Victor Jimenez. I’m 16 years old and I’m a current karate competitor looking to keep competing as winning.
I started karate when I was 4 years old, I started practicing karate in my passage to find which sparky was gonna be the one for me, until I hit karate which I immediately bond with, even though I had my moments where I wasn’t sure if I wanted to this at the end karate martiality and all it taught me and keeps teaching got me to engage.
Karate is a very general term to all the styles that come with it I’ve been practicing Shotokan karate my whole life, and I hold a second dan in it.
I’m would consider myself a very open athlete always competing in both categories. However, my main focus has always been kata.
I mean that it’s very hard to answer, throughout my karate life I’ve been with 3 different instructors, and choosing one over the other it’s difficult, they all built me up to what I am right now.
I have always competed since I was little, but karate now consider a sport has changed a lot throughout the years, now been a time where it has been more competitive for me, and in my journey, I have achieved many different medals and trophies, so I can’t complain it’s has been pretty good but I’m always looking to increase that number.
There is a point in karate where it turns into a profession, once you have practice this sport for this many years, it makes it a profession.
I’m at a point in my life where I’m still growing as a competitor, of course not being able to apply to a national team for different social status reasons makes it difficult to increase the competition level. Thank god there hasn’t been any injury that has stopped me from competing, of course, there has been a time where I’ve been injured but that wouldn’t stop me.
What keeps me going into this career is not only about my personal feeling about winning medals, cuz those are materialistic things that you win wear them for a bit then you got to keep training. So what moves me is the feeling like a team, with the kids, the sensei the parents, cuz, when you achieve something, is general happiness which full fills me.
I wanna tell everyone to do what they love and to do it well. You’ll never grow if you don’t push yourself to your limits doing what you do best, and what you love the most.
I couldn’t say which one cuz they all have a certain level of difficulty and quality but I’m proud of all my achievements cuz I know they come from hard work.
