A short introduction to yourself?

My name is Vinicius Silva, I’m 21 years old and I’m a Jiu-Jitsu Athlete at Gfteam.

How did you develop your fondness for your sport and at what age did you start learning karate?

I got to know Jiu-Jitsu when I was 15 years old, but as my family didn’t support it, I stopped and only started practising again when I was 17, which is when I started competing and I haven’t stopped until today.

What is your style and what rank do you currently hold in (your sport)?

Currently, I train at Gfteam Matriz with Master Julio Cesar Pereira, where I have evolved a lot and have been successful in the championships in which I compete. There’s still a long way to go before I get where I want to go, the journey is long, but with a lot of training and dedication, this will be possible.

How did you get into this position and how did your journey in this sport go?

The positions I like to do the most are Closed Guard, De la Riva and Strangulation.

Do you take sports as a profession or is it just a hobby?

Jiu-jitsu is my profession, almost everything I do is for my athlete career.

What challenges have you faced in getting to where you are now? You can also share any injury story.

My biggest challenge currently is the difficulty to pay for some championships, as I still don’t have sponsorship, only help from friends and acquaintances who follow my trajectory.

What motivates you most about your profession as an athlete?

Until then, the State Championship has been the one that impressed me the most, as I was managing to put into practice my best positions and I closed the category with a training friend.
