My name is Yago, I’m 21 years old. I practice jiu-jitsu as a competitor and live in Brazil.
What sports do you practise?
Jiu-Jitsu.
How did you develop your fondness for your sport and at what age did you start learning?
I start seeing my dad fight and created a passion for fighting. Start whit 13 years old.
What is your style and what rank do you currently hold in?
I am a guard in jiu-jitsu, fighting from below. And I was two times Brazilian champion and other titles.
Do you have a favourite Sensei?
Yes, Rodrigo Feijao.
How did you get into this position and how did your journey in this sport go?
The pandemic disrupted my career, but I don’t desist, intend to work hard still.
Do you take sports as a profession or is it just a hobby?
Profession.
What challenges have you faced in getting to where you are now? You can also share any injury story.
Sport in Brazil isn’t valued, so hard to get sponsorship and support.
What motivates you most about your profession as an athlete?
Love the sport.
Do you have anything you want everyone to learn?
Never give up chasing your dreams.
What tournament or match you have won are you most proud of and why?
2x Brazilian championship.
