Ythalo Success
Ythalo is an athlete.
A short introduction to yourself?
My name is Ythalo, but everyone calls me italau, a childhood nickname, I’m 18 years old, I live in the Penha complex (Vila Cruzeiro).
How did you develop your fondness for your sport and at what age did you start?
I am a recent purple belt in Jiu Jitsu, I started to practice Jiu Jitsu when I was 10 years old (2013), my mother put me up because I was very undisciplined and thought the sport would help me, so I started to practice Jiu Jitsu in a project of a church that was 3km from my house.
I started going to all the training sessions, arriving early to all of them to set up the mat, from there I saw that it was something that I would really fall in love with and I would give myself to everything good to happen
Are you a member of any sports team? if not have you ever been?
Today I’m on the GF Team (tide) and a student of Professor Branco.
Are there any short-term goals you’d like to accomplish in the next few months to a couple of years?
I’m working to win big titles, like World Pro UAE which is my biggest dream, but for now I’m still on the way
Do you take sports as a profession or is it just a hobby?
This sport is the best profession I could choose, it fits my profile a lot and I’ve already learned a lot of lessons from it.
What challenges have you faced in getting to where you are now? You can also share any injury story.
I went through all the ups and downs, jiu jitsu teaches you that you won’t always be on top, at some point the low always comes, it can be the saddest time, but it can also be the time that makes you stronger, all you need is you learn the disciplines that sport passes on to you.
What motivates you most about your profession as an athlete?
I learned a lot in the midst of these ups and downs, especially in the bass, it was the part that kept me motivated the most, because I always remember that I have to win in life before my mother dies, and show her that I am different from the same ones, show that I was no longer “one” in this world.
Do you have anything you want everyone to learn?
There’s a movie I watched and I’ll always carry with me a phrase I heard in it, it said: “A moment of pain is worth a lifetime of glory” So I know that every bad moment will pass and the time will come to reap the rewards that I planted I also had many happy moments, one that I keep to this day is my first yellow belt championship, it was the first and last my mother went to see me fight, not that she died to go to the others, she just didn’t have the opportunity to go for being so busy, and I look forward to that special moment again to this day, me being champion and seeing the smile on her face.
